ok am I the only one getting miffed about the gas stations charging up to $2 for pumping air?
I mean come on, you can't tell me it costs them that much to run their compressors just to fill up four tires with air.
Thank god there are still a few country stations that have the old fashioned cachunk cachunk air machines where you dial in the required air pressure and it fills you up to the asked for pressure.

50 cents around here. If you fill up the station usually turns on the compressor at no charge.

No. I don't use the one that charge for air. We still have stations in the country that have air for free. And I keep a compressor int he shed to keep the tires pumped up on my machinery and the cars and trucks.

From what I remember as a kid, it used to cost a quarter to pump air at a gas station. I don't know about now, but that should be a free service.

never did and never will pay for air. are you going to pay 30k+ for a vehicle and trust a junk machine to measure your tire pressure? you must have voted for the obominator, or you are just stupid, or you just have more money than you know what to do with. i will channel that money well, and even give you something for it you suckwad.

As a kid I remember the Ka-chunk Ka-chunk machines at the gas stations. They were never accurate.
Between my dad & I we've had our own compressors for the past 30 years.
Never payed for something that should be free.

Fewer and fewer stations provide free air because there are more people that buy gas down the street where gas is a couple cents cheaper but charge for air. What would you do if you often see people gas up elsewhere and just come to you for free air?

Too many years ago I was employed in a service station where an air compressor not only a necessity in the work area, but also provided "free" air to anyone who had a low tire, required a soccer ball to be inflated or kiddie pool inflated.

Times have changed over the years. Should I now have a low tire and a gas bar (I am choosing my words carefully to avoid any reference to service)requires a payment for air, I will avoid the establishment in order to seek out a merchant who still recognizes the value of customer service.

Most stations charge 50 cents at the air pump. But at the station near me they turn it on for free if you ask. For me I have an electric air compressor at home and a 12 volt one in my car.
